Catalog Number: B2016650 (500 ug)
Luciferase from Photinus pyralis (firefly) is a high quality enzyme found in fireflies, specifically in the species Photinus pyralis. It is responsible for the bioluminescence, or light production, that fireflies are known for. Luciferase catalyzes the reaction that produces light by oxidizing a substrate called luciferin in the presence of oxygen, ATP, and magnesium ions. This reaction results in the emission of light. This product has been used as a molecular tool for various biochemical applications. It has also been used in a wide array of other chemical and immunological applications. Custom bulk amounts of this product are available upon request.
