Di-methyl-β-Cyclodextrin (heptakis(2,6-di-O-methyl)-β-cyclodextrin) is a lipophilic, chemically modified cyclic oligosaccharide derivative composed of seven glucopyranose units. Featuring a hydrophobic cavity and a hydrophilic surface, it exhibits superior aqueous solubility and inclusion complexation capabilities compared to native β-cyclodextrin. It is primarily utilized in scientific research as a solubilizing agent, cellular transport enhancer, and cholesterol-depleting agent for lipid raft disruption.
