Calf Intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase (CIAP) is a phosphomonoesterase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of 5′-phosphate groups from DNA, RNA, and ribo- and deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates. It is primarily used in molecular cloning to prevent vector self-ligation by removing phosphate groups from 5′-termini, and it also aids in 5′-end labeling of nucleic acids. This product is supplied with a 10X reaction buffer typically composed of Tris-HCl and MgCl2 to ensure optimal enzymatic activity for various research applications.
