TE Buffer, 1X (Biotechnology Grade) is a standard aqueous solution composed of 10 mM Tris-HCl and 1 mM EDTA adjusted to pH 8.0 to ensure the solubility and structural integrity of nucleic acids. The Tris component provides buffering capacity to maintain a stable alkaline environment, while EDTA acts as a chelating agent to sequester divalent metal ions that are essential cofactors for degradative nuclease enzymes. This molecular biology reagent is filtered through a 0.22 um membrane to ensure it is sterile and nuclease-free for the safe suspension, dilution, and long-term storage of DNA and RNA.
