Sudan III is a non-ionic, fat-soluble diazo dye widely utilized in histology and cytology for the selective staining and visualization of neutral lipids, triglycerides, and lipoproteins. As a lipophilic azo dye, it functions via physical adsorption and hydrophobic interactions to distinctly color lipid droplets and adipose tissues in biological samples from orange to deep red.
