Diphtheria toxin is a potent cytotoxin produced by the bacterium *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*. The toxin is a single polypeptide chain divided into two domains: A (active) and B (binding). The toxin must be cleaved by enzymes to become active, allowing it to enter host cells and inhibit protein synthesis, leading to cell death. This product has been used as a molecular tool for various biochemical applications. It has also been used in a wide array of other chemical and immunological applications.
